Postseason Thoughts

Now that the season is officially over for the Dodgers, I can gather my thoughts.  It has been a difficult couple of weeks for many of us fans, especially those who love the Cardinals, Angels, Rockies, and the rest of the AL and NL.

I am glad it is over.  I can now concentrate on other parts of my life.  I have a huge pile of books that I could not get to.  I approximate that I went to about 75 games during Spring Training, the regular season and postseason.  I barely had time to do anything else.SecondwinagainsttheCardinals096.jpg image by xoxrussell

I can finally relax and not worry about the next game.  I realized that I was always a little stressed.  I kept trying to tell myself that it wouldn't be the end of the world if the Dodgers lost a game.  Unfortunately I couldn't convince myself.  One day I'll grow up.

What I enjoyed about the season besides going to the games was my blog.  It has brought me great joy.  I have met wonderful baseball fans like myself who love the sport.  We may not always cheer on the same team but we all share the love of the game.  I will always consider Jane, Julia, Virginia, Hyunyoung, Kaybee, Jenn, the two wonderful Matts, Buz, Cliff, Ginnie, Sue, Jeff, good friends.  I will never forget, Jeff, how you wished my Dodgers good luck after the NLDS.  You are the best!

I also have become friends with the wonderful staff at Dodger Stadium.  The best ushers in all of baseball are part of the staff there.  Thanks to all the concession people, security and waiters.  There is no other group as awesome as you are!

And also thank you Dodgers for the awesome 2009 season.  I personally think that they are the most hardworking, loyal, dedicated group of men in baseball.  Virginia will agree with me that they also are the cutest and nicest.  Thank you Andre for being so fan friendly.  Thank you for the handwritten thank you note to Mrs. Nelson and her first grade class in  Merced.  Thank you Matty Kemp for being you.  Thank you James Loney for playing your heart out.  Thanks to Kuroda-san for having the courage to come back and pitching after that terrifying injury. I could go on and on thanking each Dodger but they know I love them.  Next year we will go to the World Series.  No matter what, I will always be a Dodger fan and bleed blue.

Thank you also everyone for supporting my blog.  I have poured my heart and soul into it so each and every one of you can enjoy the Dodgers as much as I do.  I want you to know the Dodgers as real people who laugh and cry .  Right now they are sad and disappointed but then they will pick themselves up as they have during the season and play the next game with even more heart and tenacity.  Those are my guys!!!

We love you too, Cat! A bittersweet ending for your Dodgers, but with fans like you, they will be ok! Keep up the great blogs!

Yeah, nothing to feel bad about really. Your boyz did a great job and are just a cog or two away from being one of the elite. For Loney, Ethier and Kemp, the sky is the limit.

CAT,
Thank you for sharing with us. I visited your blog just about every morning after a game to read & see the pictures of the game. Your personal touch made the blog a special place to visit. It felt good reading the comments from other team's fans write positive things about the Dodgers....LOVE IT! And our BOYS need fans like you attending the games.....fans that will go all out for them. Can't wait til 2010 season.....should be another interesting year for our BOYS IN BLUE!

Now it is a Yankees vs. Phillies World Series (not to happy about the whole east coast series...but hey both teams played extremely good). Congratulations to both clubs and their fans. May the best team win. This should be a very very interesting WS.

Thanks for writing such a great blog, Cat. Your love for the Dodgers comes through in every post and pic. I can well understand your need to get back to "real life," now that their season is over. But spring training will be here before you know it, and things will get crazy all over again so rest up!

Cat - you are Dodger blue : ) .. I feel every loss just like you do and ... just like you.. maybe someday I'll grow up. chuckle. Wait.. why would I do that? Enjoy your rest. .you'll need to replenish that energy for 2010!

Cat: Your blog has brought me joy, too. I love it, and I love you. And I love your Dodgers. Yes, I agree that they are the cutest team (them and my Yankees. How can I pick between them?:) ) I love how your blog shows the human side of the Dodgers. I honestly feel like I know the Dodgers as people, which adds to their already-high cutness level. I feel bad for your Dodgers, too, but they had a great season. I will miss your blog so much. Will you blog in the offseason at all?
Also: Thank you, Andre, for signing that shirt for me. It is truly one of my most possessed treasures. I love you, Cat.

Cat - As always your blog is excellent, with the time diferences and so many games during the regular season, your blog helped me have a much better understanding of the Dodger team for the post season, and the great thing is you have the personality like most of the blogs I visit that can handle the occasional friendly jibe at your team and give as good as you get and you always have a kind word or two no matter how the Dodgers faired... enjoy your rest and the seasonal events between now and spring training and hopefully you'll even post a few during that time too..:-)

Cat- Thank you!! It has been a long season and yes - we fans can wrap it up and get onto the rest of our lives. I don't know if you know this - the first night of the World Series, MLB will be featuring their "Welcome Home Veterans" program. You and I might root for different teams Cat - but we stand united in our love and respect for the military. I wrote about this today - I wanted to make sure a lot of people knew about this. God Bless You Cat! And enjoy the postseason - Spring Training will be here before we know it!

Great tribute! It's been so much fun to read your blog over the season and seeing your passion for the Dodgers. This blogging community is just so cool, so many great people. Thank you so much for your faithful blogging and all your support!

Cat,
It is getting to that time of the year where not only the holidays will keep us occupied, but the things we have shelved for baseball and will now consumes us for a few months.
I am with you on the reading portion of the offseason. I still have to read Jane's book, and I got it from her in person back in March 2008.
Hopefully we all can take that 6-months off of the game and bring some normalcy to our lives ( good luck).
You be good Cat, and please write some during the off season.
We would love to hear some of your reviews if you read a baseball book.

Hey Cat!
I know, I've been away for a little bit, but since Wednesday, I've been concentrating on other parts of my life - namely studying and bringing in some steady income into our household. But of course we can and always will be proud of our Dodgers' 2009 performances throughout the regular season and into the postseason. I know you are and I know that I am proud of my Boys in Blue. Can't wait for ST!!!

It seems like the season has passed by without notice, and is soon about to come to a halt.

Cat, I know what you mean about catching up on the things that get pushed aside during baseball season - I have such a long mental list that I doubt I'll ever get done. I've enjoyed reading your blog this season, so make sure you save some time for that during the offseason as well as tackling all those books!

Cat! What a great post...as usual, of course :] I was rooting for the Dodgers so it was heart-breaking when they lost, but they'll bounce back again, I have no doubt!!!! I wish the Dodgers and Mariners would play, that would be such a fun game to go to/watch...are they playing next season? I'm crossing my fingers...and also too lazy to look it up at this moment, hehehe. Anyways, just wanted to check in. I loved your blog and always have ever since I joined this blogosphere :] xoxo http://diamondgirl55.mlblogs.com

P.S, I always tell my Mom that you say hi and she loves it. No one else appreciates her "ichiro-watching" and she's glad she is appreciated by you hehehe. With her computer illiteracy she says she actually reads your blog...and sometimes mine, haha! xoxo

Cat,

Thanks a lot for the Dodgers cap and the great post. Would you like a Phillies World Series cap to compensate for the Dodgers losing the NLCS? Keep up the great blogging.

Glad you've still got some baseball spirit left even though we shortened your post season, Lee was without a doubt the best acquisition the Phillies have made in a long time... and no the Dodgers can't have him...LOL
